Grenoble has very progressive transport policies, with an ever-expanding tram system - this report shows that between 2002 and 2010 public transport's modal share rose from 14% to 16%, walking from 30% to 31% and cycling from 3% to 4%, while the private car's share fell from 53% to 48% - and in general people are travelling less anyway.
